Abstract: The following process management approach is accepted in Japanese Just in Time production: every process and characteristic has its nominal value. Deviation of process from its nominal value is considered as loss or non-quality cost. As this approach has given excellent results, its basic idea became the base of Six Sigma methodology of mass, multiphase production process management. The core of Six Sigma philosophies (developed in Motorola) is to project, measure, analyze and improve complex, multiphase, modern production process, for the purpose of achieving perfect quality levels. In this paper, process management idea for the business excellence of enterprises is applied and developed for maintenance process in an organization which has defined their processes and manages these processes. In order to reduce the non quality costs, the following has to be done: all processes and subprocesses have to be defined and documented, the processes have to be correctly placed in time and managed, the non quality costs have to be correctly measured and managed, the process performance, corrective and preventive measures have to be determined, as well as process improvements (the process should follow PDCA cycle).All these are the steps in the implementation of the proposed action of continuous processes improvement. Presented idea has been so far developed for marketing, production and supply processes. Developed theoretical model is not tested in Serbia due to a lack of data and very simplified model of process management in Serbian enterprises. This paper is a result of generalization and inductive reasoning applied on the author’s work on projects of implementing and handling statistical, engineering and managerial methods of process control (Jovetic, project in: 7).
